Original of the Species: Significado

¿Qué ha dicho Bono de esta canción de How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb?: " Original of the Species es una canción muy especial para mí, es un hermoso, melódico viaje. Sencillamente mirando alguna gente, como yo, que están avergonzados de sus cuerpos y particularmente los adolescentes que no se sienten bien consigo mismos y su sexualidad. Y solamente les diría..." (les dedica la letra de la canción).

Parece claro, que cuando escribió la letra de Original of the Species, estaba pensando en sus hij@s adolescentes y probablemente también en los hij@s de The Edge.

Bueno, tal y como nos comentaba Cesar en los comentarios del post anterior, Bono dedica esta canción a su primera hija Jordan en el DVD U2 Vertigo Tour Live in Chicago, justo antes de interpretar la canción. Básicamente es un mensaje de un padre a su hija.

Con Original of the Species, Bono nos quiere transmitir un mensaje muy claro: hay que mantener una mentalidad abierta y hay que conservar al niño que llevamos dentro cuando nos vamos haciendo mayores. Y sobre todo: No hay que avergonzarse de uno mismo.
